Challenge: Get Your June On!

6/15/2019

The June color palette for the Lindy's Gang Challenge for June 2019 is:

Picture
I figured I could come up with the blues and greens from my stash but I was a little short on the orange so I skipped that. I believe the rules allow the insertion of "neutrals" like metallics so I added some gold...

I started with some alcohol substrate paper (couldn't find my glossy white so I THOUGHT this would work --- it did, but not quite how I wanted it to! LOL). I used Lindy's Magical "Guten Tag Teal" and Lindy's Squirts "Loonie Toonie Teal", "Emerald Eh?" and "Banff Blue" to create a background. When I tried drying with a heat gun, the paper warped and bubbled but I figured I could make that work for me.

After the background was more or less dry, I added some opaque white texture paste through a stencil. The paste took up some of the ink colors from the background.

I had a left-over batch of green algae die-cuts and a stamped mermaid from a Hero Arts My Monthly Hero set. I embossed the mermaid tail with Lindy's "Tannenbaum Green Gold" EP and colored the mermaid's hair with Lindy's Squirt "Poutine Gold". I adhered the algae and the mermaid to the background, layered the background on black card, and then adhered the panel to a ivory pre-folded A2 notecard:
Picture
The bubbling on the achohol substrate actually added to the texture.

It doesn't show really well in the photo but I had coated the algae leveswith Wink of Stella Clear.

I die cut the words "by the sea" from black card and adhered them to the background:
Picture
I thought it needed a little something so I added some blue and green sequins which I had coated with Wink of Stella (you can see the Wink of Stella on the algae in this photo as well):
Picture
Products used in the making of this card were:
  • Stamps, dies and stencils: Hero Arts My Monthly Hero set "Mermaids" for May 2017
  • Dies: Sizzix Thinlits "Vacation Words: Script" (661288)
  • Inks" Lindy's Gang Magicals "Guten Tag Teal"; Linday's Gang Squirts "Poutine Gold", "Loonie Toonie Teal", "Emerald Eh?", and "Banff Blue"; Ranger Emboss It pen; Wink of Stella "Clear" (GL999); Archival "Jet Black"
  • Embossing Powders: Lindy's Gang "Tannenbaum Green Gold"
  • Papers: ParkLane Paperie A2 notecard "ivory" (15919590); scraps of black, Neena Solar White, and various shades of green card; Ranger Alcohol Ink Substrate  (TAC45793)
  • Embellishments: Neat & Tangled sequin mix
  • Media: Ranger Texure Paste "Opage Matte" (INK44444)
  • Adhesives: GInaK "Connect" glue; iCraft "Easy Tear Tape"; Xyron 250 sticker maker

Challenge: March Color Palette/Photo

3/11/2019

The color palette and photo inspiration for the Lindy's Gang March 2019 challenge is:
Picture
I decide to make a tag using colors from the palette (as close as I could with my current stash): Lindy's Magical "Polka Purple", Lindy's Flat Fabio Spray "I'm Late, I'm Late Slate" and Lindy's Embossing Powder "Spring Leaf Chartreuse".

I started by using the magical powder as a wash on a cut of Neena solar white card:
Picture
This was used to die-cut flowers.

Next, I sprayed an ivory tag multiple times, drying between each spray, with the Flat Fabio Spray and randomly stamped some "marks" in Archival ink to create a background:
Picture
The background needed some depth so I added some torn strips of scrap paper:
Picture
I die cut the flowers from the purple card and a set of stems/leaves from a scrap of Neena Solar White. I embossed the stems and ran the flower heads and the stems though my Xyron 250 sticker maker. I arranged the flowers and stems on the tag, and added some Idea-ology stickers (smeared with Distress Crayon) and a stained crinkle ribbon to complete the tag:
Picture
Products used in the making of this tag were:

  • Stamps: Stampers Anonymous “Mini Media Marks” (CMS364)
  • Dies: Sizzix Thinlits “Wildflower Stems #2" (664164)
  • Inks: Lindy’s Gang Magical “Polka Purple” and Flat Fabio Spray “I’m Late, I’m Late Slate”; Versamark; Archival “Watering Can”; Distress Crayon “Dusty Concord”
  • Embossing Powders: Lindy's Gang “Spring Leaf Chartreuse”,
  • Papers: scraps of Neena Solar White card and ProvoCraft 12x12 lavender paper; Graphic45 “Regular Ivory Tag Album” (4501221)
  • Embellishments: Idea-ology “Small Talk: Occasions” (TH93245); Crinkle ribbon freebie
  • Adhesives: Xyron 250 stoker maker; GInaK “Connect” glue

Lindy's February 2019 Challenge

2/16/2019

The color palette for the February 2019 Challenge at Lindy's Gang is:
Picture
I decided to make e a card and experiment with using Magicals with a stencil. While I'm not one-hundred percent happy with the result, here is what I got when sprinkling “Polka Purple”, “Tiffanylou’s Blue”, and “Bells of Ireland Green” on moistened cardstock (I outlined the stencil openings in black gel pen after drying the magicals):
Picture
Next, I gessoed a chipboard flourish and, after inking with Versamark Ink, sprinkled on “Morning Glory Azure”, “Spring Leaf Chartreuse” and “Aurora Amethyst” embossing powders:
Picture
The flourish got lost on that busy background so I glued it to a piece of light-weight patterned paper (black dots on white, most of the dots being hidden behind the flourish) and fussy cut before attaching to th card front. I also put a tangle of blue perle cotton behind the flourish and attached a greenish silk flower adorned with gold thread and pearls the base:
Picture
A sentiment was composed of an Idea-ology sticker and some left-over glossy black letters for several Sizzix Thinlits  word dies. To tie the flourish in more with the flower, I added pearl "stickers' to it as well:
Picture
Product used in the making of this card were:

  • Stencils: Hero Arts “Graphic Deco” (SA127)
  • Dies: Sizzix thinlits letters (various dies)
  • Inks: Lindy’s Magicals “Tiffanylou’s Blue” and “Bells of Ireland Green”; Lindy’s Shakers “Polka Purple”; versa mark; OHTO FudeBall 1.5 “black”
  • Embossing Powders: Lindy’s Gang “Morning Glory Azure”, “Spring Leaf Chartreuse” and “Aurora Amethyst”
  • Papers: ParkLane Paperie A2 notecard “white”; Essential by Ellen paper pack “Modern Graphic” (EEPP001)
  • Embellishments: DMC #5 Cotton Perle (4237); Memory Box pearl tickers “white”; Idea-ology “Small Talk - Occasions” (TH93245); Creative Embellishments chipboard flourish
  • Media: Liquitex Acrylic Gesso “white”
  • Adhesives: GinaK “Connect” glue

Challenge: January 2019 Color/Photo Inspiration

1/14/2019

The Lindy's Gang inspiration challenge for 2019 is the following palette and photo:
Picture
After thinking about this color combination for a week, it occurred to me that the key was the green: Spring!

So I started with a green background on a pre-folded A2 Notecard, using "Bells of Ireland Green" shimmer spray, Versamark , and "Spring Leaf Chartreuse" embossing powder:
Picture
I applied four magical powders to a cut of Neena Solar Whiet card: three from the Sweet Treats magicals collection ("Milk Chocolate Brown", "Dark Chocolate Truffle", "Creme Brûlée Brown") and one from the Prairie Flower magicals collection ("Mission Bells Brown"). When dry, I die-cut with a Sizzix thinlits die to create a scene of tree trunks:
Picture
I sprayed another cut of Neena "Solar white" card with "I'm Late, I'm Late Slate" Flat Fabio Spray and, when dry, die cut with a Sizzix Thinlits die set to create some deer images (I ended up only using two of them):
Picture
I layered the tree die-cut on the green card front:
Picture
I added the deer, after adding eyes, shading and spots on the fawn with a Distress Marker and a white gel pen:
Picture
I tinted two Idea-ology stickers with a Distress Marker for the final touch:
Picture
Products used in the making of this card were:

  • Dies: Sizzix Thinlits “Winter Wonderland” (662426) and “Branched Birch” (663108)
  • Inks: Lindy’s Gang  Shimme Spray "Bells of Ireland Green", Lindy’s Gang Magicals "Milk Chocolate Brown", "Dark Chocolate Truffle", "Creme Brûlée Brown", and ""Mission Bells Brown"; Lindy’s Gang Flat Fabio Spray "I'm Late, I'm Late Slate", Distress Markers "Gathered Twigs” and “Twisted Citron”; Signo Uniball Gel Pen “white”; Versamark
  • Embossing Powders: Lindy’s Gang  "Spring Leaf Chartreuse"
  • Papers: Neena “Solar White”; ParkLane Paperie A2 notecard “white”
  • Embellishments: Idea-ology “ChitChat - Seasonal” (TH93050) and “Small Talk - Occasions” (TH93245)

Challenge: December Color Inspiration

12/27/2018

Holiday colors were the inspiration for the Lindy's Gang Challenge for December, 2018:
Picture
I opted for the blue and gold color range as I had more of those products and I couldn't come up with a scheme for red and green.

I started with a die-cut tag of Neena Solar White card, Versamark and three Lindy's Gang Embossing powders: "Caesar's Gold", "Golden Angel Wings" and "Desert Moon Turquoise":
Picture
I sprayed some Little Birdie flowers with Lindy's Starburst "Tiffany Lou Blue" and paired them with some Prima flowers in a similar blue shade. I added an Idea-ology sticker and a coordinating ribbon and attached the white tag to a Graphic45 Staples ivory tag:
Picture
Products used in the making of this tag were:
  • Dies: Graphic45 Regular Tag & Gears" metal dies (4501688)
  • Inks: Versamark; Lindy's Starburst "Tiffany Lou Blue"
  • Embossing Powders: Lindy's Gang "Caesar's Gold", "Golden Angel Wings" and "Desert Moon Turquoise"
  • Papers: Graphic45 Staples "Regular Tag Album - Ivory" (4501221); Neena Solar white card
  • Embellishments: Little Birdie Beaded Mini Florettes (CR47788); Prima Flowers (597146); Idea-ology "Small Talk" (TH93193); blue sating ribbon
  • Adhesives: Wendy Vecchi "Perfect Card adhesive" (WVA62134); ScorTape 1/8"

Challenge: November Color Palette

11/11/2018

The color palette for the November 2018 challenge for Lindy's Gang is bright and colorful:
Picture
I decide to make another tag.

I started by coating the tag with gesso and, when dry, added a schemer of texture paste embedded with some prills. When the paste had dried, I sprayed with Lindy's Flat Fabio “Rizzo’s Rowdy Red” and  Shimmer "Grab a Guy Gold”:

Picture
I coated two chipboard elements with more gesso. I sprayed the feather with Lindy's Vintage “Tawny Turquoise”, and painted the "eye" of the feather with “Grab a Guy Gold” and “Rizzo’s Rowdy Red”. I then embossed with clear embossing powder:
Picture
I heat embossed a circular frame with Lindy's “Twilight Jade Slate” and  “Guten Tag Teal”:
Picture
I sprayed a paper doily with “Tawny Turquoise” and heat embossed with “Twilight Jade Slate” and “Guten Tag Teal”. I glued the circle frame to the center of the embossed doily and the feather to the circle frame. The feather needed something so I covered the "eye" with Nuvo Glitter drops in colors that matched the underlying ink. I then attached the unit to the tag and trimmed to fit. A sentiment and coordinating ribbons completed the tag.
Picture
Products used in the making of this tag were:

  • Inks: versa mark; Lindy’s Sprays “Tawny Turquoise”, “Grab a Guy Gold” and “Rizzo’s Rowdy Red”
  • Embossing Powder: Lindy’s “Twilight Jade Slate”, “Guten Tag Teal”; Viva Las Vegas Ultra High Gloss “clear”
  • Papers: Graphic45 Regular Tag Album “ivory” (4501221); Paper Doyleys; Creative Embellishments Chip board feather and frame
  • Embellishments: USArtQuest Mini Prills (ANC801); four coordinating colors of satin ribbon
  • Media: Liquitex Acrylic Gesso White; Ranger Texture Pate Opaque White Matte; Nuvo Glitter Drops “Ruby Slippers” (752N) and “Honey Gold” (762N); Idea-ology “Clipping Stickers” (TH93583)
  • Adhesives: Wendy Vecchi Perfect Card Adhesive (WVA62134)

Challenge: September Color Palette

9/12/2018

The color palette and photo inspiration of September 2018 for the Lindy's Gang blog and facebook page is as follows:
Picture
This bright collection of colors led me down a different path from my usual.

I started with an ivory tag, coated it with white gesso, added some magical sprinkles (randomly shaking all three colors that I had that matched the suggested color list), and brushed the tag again with gesso:
Picture
The result reminded me of a weathered painted piece of wood so I ran the tag through my Big Shot with a new Tim Holtz 3D Embossing folder:
Picture
While  the texture was there, it isn't that visible on the painted side, so I dry-brushed more gesso one the high points to call out the wood grain:
Picture
Next, using Distress Oxide Ink, I stenciled some diamonds down the right side of the tag:
Picture
and randomly stamped some text in Archival ink:
Picture
I applied Versamark randomly to the tag edges and het embossed with four colors of embossing powders:
Picture
Using Versamark Ink, I applied embossing powders to some chipboard pieces. For the circle and diamond, I embossed a second time with a different powder in the same color way to add texture.  I layered these chipboard pieces on the tag:
Picture
I threaded a dark teal ribbon through the flourish, tied it in a bow, and added a lace flower which I had tinted with magicals and a spritz of water. An Idea-ology sticker provided a sentiment:
Picture
Products used in the making of this tag were:

  • Stamps: Stampers Anonymous “Flights of Fancy” Holtz Visual Artistry Collection (2011)
  • Stencils: Stampers Anonymous “Shifter Diamonds” (THS110)
  • Embossing Folders: Sizzix 3D Texture Fade “Lumber” (662718)
  • Inks: Lindy’s Gang Magicals “Time Travel Teal”, “Bavarian Blue” and “Cuckoo Clock Cardinal”; Distress Oxide “Black Soot”: Archival “Jet Black”; Versamark
  • Embossing Powders: Lindy’s Gang “Midnight Teal Obsidian”, “Bavarian Blue”, “Purely White”, “Hi Maintenance Magenta”, and “Cuckoo Clock Cardinal”
  • Papers: Graphic45 Staples “regular Tag Album Ivory” (4501221)
  • Embellishments Creative Embellishments chipboard flourish; JoAnn’s Chipboard Pack shapes (45327); Prima Flowers “Madrigal Blossom White” (541028); teal ribbon; Idea-ology “Small Talk” (TH93193)

Challenge: Color Inspiration

8/12/2018

The Lindy's Stamp Gang color palette for August 2018 is pastel...
Picture
VERY pastel and the items I had in the suggested color range were REALLY pastel! Not really my cuppa! Still, I tried.

I started by making a background on a card blank using a spray of Flat Fabio "Chateau Rose”. I then applied Starburst  “Blue Hawaiian Blue” through a "striped" stencil and, when the card face was dry, I applied opaque matte texture paste through another stencil:
Picture
As you can see, there is some shimmer and the paste added some texture.

Once the paste had died, I applied Versamark randomly and applied three colors of Lindy's embossing powders (
“Pop Rock Purple”, “Madonna Robe Blue Gold”, and “Oom Pah Pah Pink) one at a time, heating between applications:
Picture
Now I was stumped. I wasn't really fond of t effect I got but I thought I might be able to salvage it with some posies and a sentiment:
Picture
Products used in the making of this card were:
  • Stencils: The Crafter’s workshop” Mini And so on…” (TCW3835
  • Inks: Lindy’s Flat Fabio Spray “"Chateau Rose”; Lindy’s Starburst Spray “Blue Hawaiian Blue”; Versamark; Snowman Gold extra-fin tip marker
  • Embossing Powders: Lindy’s “Pop Rock Purple”, “Madonna Robe Blue Gold”, and “Oom Pah Pah Pink”
  • Papers: The Paper Studio notecard pack “white” (225359)
  • Media: Ranger Texture Paste Opaque Matte (INK44444)
  • Embellishments: Little Birdie “Beaded Mini Floretts” (CR47788); Idea-ology “Chit Chat” (TH92998)

Challenge: July Color Inpsriation

7/8/2018

Lindy's Gang has issued a challenge for July, 2018 using the following color palette:
Picture
I set about this challenge by gessoing some chipboard pieces and heat embossing them. A frame was embossed with Lindy's Gang "Cosmic Pink Blue" and "Venus Violet Blue" embossing powders.
Picture
and a leafy spray/flourish was embossed with Lindy's Gang “Orbit Olive Gold” embossing powder:
Picture
I layered the two chipboard pieces together, put a weight on them and let them dry overnight:
Picture
I took an ivory tag, spread some texture paste on it randomly and let it dry overnight as well. The next day, I spritzed it with two Starburst Sprays: “Bachelor Button Blue” and “Shabby Turbine Teal”:
Picture
I lightly smeared a Versamark pad over the raised areas and embossed them with "Venus Violet Blue"
Picture
I repeated the Versamark "swipe", this time heat embossing with “Orbit Olive Gold” (doesn't show up real well in the following photo):
Picture
Assembly included tangles of two gold fibers from Olivers' Twists:
Picture
and a few scattered pearl stickers:
Picture
A picture from a different angle shows the shimmer from the "Orbit Olive Gold” (I find it interesting how different the same embossing powder appears over white gesso and blue starburst sprays!):
Picture
Products used in the making of this tag were:

  • Inks: Lindy’s Gang Starburst Sprays “Bachelor Button Blue” and “Shabby Turbine Teal”; Versamark
  • Embossing Powders: Lindys’ Gang Embossing Powders Cosmic Pink Blue", "Venus Violet Blue" and “Orbit Olive Gold”
  • Papers: JoAnn Chipboard Pack (45327); Creative Embellishments chipboard flourish; Graphic 45 Regular Ivory Tag (4501221)
  • Embellishments: Oliver Twists “Tidbits” threads; Memory Box Pearl Stickers “white”
  • Media: Liquitex Acrylic Gesso “white”; Ranger Texture Paste (INK44444)
  • Adhesives: Wendy Vecchi “Perfect Card Adjhesive” (WVA62134)

Challenge: Color Inspiration for June

6/17/2018

The LIndy's Stamp Gang challenge for the month os June 2018 uses the following color palette:
Picture
For once, I had most of the colors recommended but I decided to go easy on the entry, by limiting my palette to pink,  green and yellow-gold.

I started by spraying a Starburst Spray through a stencil - the first time I have ever tried it and it worked! So I pulled a second stencil and tried a different Starburst Spray over the first:
To add some texture, I used a paint brush and dripped a third Starburst Spray over the card face
Picture
Next, I took some white paper layering flowers and painted them with Lindy's Flat Fabio "Raspberry Lemonade" and let them dry. Once dry, I assembled the flowers using brads:
Picture
I picked one of the flowers with a green center and added some "Raspberry Lemonade" embossing powder to the petals...
Picture
I heat embossed a sentiment and adhered the flower to the center of the stenciled images:
Picture
Products used in the making of this card were:
  • Stamps: Ranger stamps RA-ACCES-8144 from the  LetterIt "Embossing Technique" Kit (LEK 59387)
  • Stencils: ALtenew "Leaf Burst" (ALT 2192) and "Warp Speed" (ALT 2195)
  • Inks: Lindy's Gang Starburst Sprays "Bells of Ireland Green", "Yellow Rose of Texas" and "Peony Scarlet Red"; Lindy's Flat Fabio Spray "Raspberry Lemonade"; Lindy's Gang Embossing Powders "Raspberry Lemonade" and "Ghouly Goblin Green"; Versamarker Watermark Pen; Versamark
  • Papers: cream-colored cardstock
  • Embellishments: Petaloo "Color Me Crazy" Medium Layers (1546-000); Hot Off The Press "Citrus" brads (7257)
