Sizzix has issued a challenge: they want to see all the incredible makes we come up with using Tim Holtz's Christmas Collection! It doesn't matter what we create, they just want us to be sure to use these merry cool products in our make!

This is my sixth entry in the challenge (which goes through December 10, 2017) where I used the "Home for the Holidays" die set from this year's "collection" as well as some dies from earlier years...
Picture
Note: the metallic is really more silver than gold but my flash added yellow overtones to the snow globe dome, the bumpers and hub caps and the gift-wrapped package.

Products used in the making of this card were:

  • Dies: Sizzix Thinlits Snowglobe” (667603) and “Home for the Holidays” (662419
  • Inks: Distress Ink “Vintage Photo”
  • Papers: Paper Studio cards “white” (225359) and scraps of silver gilt, red, red glimmer, green, tan black and white cardtock
  • Adhesives: Ranger Collage Glue Stick; Xyron 250 sticker maker

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge with a focus on Tim Holtz products for November 29, 2017: Anything Goes

Challenge: Tear It Up

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for November 20, 2017 is 'Tear It Up!" we are to use something torn in our make.

I decided on a tag using
blended Distress Oxide ink finishes and a torn piece of cardstock, heat-embossed with sparkly embossing powder (to represent snow-covered ground):

Picture
Next, I pulled several die-cuts from my 'tover stash, added sparkly embossing powder to two woodland tree and , blended "Walnut Stain" Distress Oxide on four die cut twigs from three different die sets. I then die-cut a stag from a fifth die set, arranged these items on the snowy background and using a Sign Uniball gel pen, dotted a few snowflakes in the sky:
Picture
The deer needed s little somethin-somethin so I added highlights on his antlers darkened his hooves, and added some eyes, a nose and some body contour lines. Then I die-cut a sentiment and attached a crinkle ribbon that had been stained in camo colors (a freebie from the Funky Junky Boutique). The result, a more-or-less masculine tag who'll could also serve for an outdoorsman prone to camouflage ...

Products used in the making of this tag were:
  • Dies: Sizzix Thinlits "Woodlands" (660978), "Small Tattered Florals" (661806), "Winter Wonderland" (662426), and "Handwritten Holidays" (660979); Sizzix Movers & Shapers "Mini Branch and Leaf" (657208); Sizzix Decorative Strip "Autumn Gatherings" (657454)
  • Inks: Versamark; Distress Oxide "Walnut Stain", "Iced Spruce" nad "Peeled Paint"; Signo Uniball 'white"; Bic Permanent Marker "black"

  • Papers: Distress Tag (TDA53828); scraps of dark green, dark brown, dark red, ochre and white card stock
  • Adhesives: Ranger Collage Glue Stick; Xyron 500 sticker maker

Sizzix has issued another challenge: they want to see all the incredible makes we come up with using Tim Holtz's Christmas Collection! It doesn't matter what we create, they just want us to be sure to use these merry cool products in our make!

This card used dies from two set in the collection: "Snowglobe 2" and "Village Christmastime". I decided to go with silhouettes against a night sky, and actually create Santa and his sleigh over the rooftops of a small village.

I started with a piece of blue card on a white notecard as a background. I die cut the sleigh, the moon and stars, and the houses from dies from the two sets. After placing the no the card, I stamped a sentient in Versamark and heat-embossed it in gold:

2017 Challenge: 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week #1

11/11/2017

Linda Coughlin, owner of the blog "The Funky Junkie" and the online craft shop of the same name (The Funky Junkie Boutique), has issued a challenge:

"Every September I start making a tag a week with a winter/Christmas theme and challenging my visitors to be inspired by something on the tag that will get them going on a winter/Christmas project of their own.  I hope you will play along with my little challenge this year. It's a nice way to get your Christmas cards done.

"Here's the deal.  Each Monday for the next 12 weeks, I will post a Christmas tag. If you wish to play along, you can make any sort of Christmas or winter themed DIY project. It can be a tag, but doesn't have to be. It can be a Christmas card, a holiday decoration, a scrapbook layout, a tree ornament, a banner, whatever you want but it does have to be inspired by my tag and must be Christmas or winter themed."

Below is the first tag of her 2017 series:
Picture
She said that we don't have to use her style, her layout, her colors, her theme or anything except be inspired by something on her sample. Well, I was pretty much taken by her entire composition (images, layout, colors, message) and I decided to CASE her tag, only on a smaller tag.

I tarted with a background, using the same layering stencil Linda did but different colors in Distress Oxides:
Picture
After using a blending tool and "Vintage Photo Distress Ink and Distress Oxide B'acl soot around the tag edges, I set about creating a similar layout using die-cut deer. I die cut the stag from a dark brown card scrap and blended "Black Soot" Distress Oxide around his hindquarters. I die cut the doe and fawn from a lighter brown card scrap, blended "Vintage Photo" Distress Ink around the die-cut edges,  and added detail with a white gel-pen on the fawns.
I stamped a sentiment in Archival "Jet Black", attached my deer and finished off with a Distress Stain dyed crinkle ribbon (received as a freebie from the Funky Junkie Boutique)!
Picture
Products used in the making of this card were:

  • Stamps: Stampers Anonymous “Great Outdoors” (CMS321)
  • Stencils: Stampers Anonymous Layering Stencil “Pines” (THS096)
  • Dies: Sizzix “Winter Wonderland” (662426)
  • Inks: Distress Oxides “Peeled Paint”, “Iced Spruce” and “Black Soot”; Distress Ink “Vintage Photo”; Archival “Jet Black”; Signo Uniball “white”
  • Papers: scrap dark and medium brown card; Ranger Distress Tags (TDA53828)
  • Embellishments: Crinkle ribbon (freebie from Funky Junkie Boutique - probably died with “Iced Spruce”)
  • Adhesives: Ranger Collage Glue Stick
I'm also entering this in the Sizzix challenge #holtzfortheholidays
