The Lindy's Stamp Gang color palette challenge for May 2018 is as follows: I started with a tag for my background and after application of gesso and texture paste, I sprayed it with "Magnolia Magenta Gold", sprinkled a little "California Poppy Gold" magicals adn then heat embossed some "Poppin' Pink" and "Aurora Amethyst" embossing powders: I tried a little overstepping in Archival "Jet Black": I sprayed some ivory lace with "Magnolia Magenta Gold" several times and applied it to the top of teh tag with embossing tape: I gessoed two chipboard pieces - a flourish and a butterfly. I then heat embossed the flourish with "Poppin' Pink" , "Aurora Amethyst", and “Venus Violet Blue” and the buttefly with "Sunset Yellow Orange” embossing powders. I attached these chipboards with liquid adhesive. I also dyed some pills with "Magnolia Magenta Gold" and adhered when with texture paste... I trimmed the lace to the shape of teh tag and applied some magenta "gems" to it: It needed more so I heat embossed to mini butterflies with "Sunset Yellow Orange”, colored a sentiment sticker with Distress Marker and a gold pen, and added some gold to the prills. There is also a magenta gem as the head of the large butterfly. Products used in the making of this tag were:

The Lindy's Gang April 2018 inspiration is an all-metallic palette: I had all of the "suggested" colors in embossing powders but din't have the all sprays (or any that would substitute) so I waited for delivery before starting on this card. I started with a card base, using Neena Solar White, a layering stencil and texture paste. While waiting for the texture paste to dry, I started coloring embellishments for the card. I sprayed some burlap flowers, a butlap-and-lace bow and a burlap coil with “Poinciana Red Flame”, “Incandescent Copper” and “Medieval Gold”. I then added some "Holly Berry Red Gold" and "Ceasar's Gold" embossing powders to the flowers and coil and "Cleopatra's Copper" embossing powder to the coil (unsprayed examples are on the left in each picture): I selected a resin frame from my stash, coated it with Versamark and heat embossed with Lindy's "Midnight Copper" embossing powder to provide some dark contrast to the lighter colors: Once the paste on the card front had dried, I sprinkled some "Bratwurst Brown" Magical over a moistened background and let the colors run through the paste. I then sprayed with Glitz Spritz “Medieval Gold” to add some shimmer and color. I applied some Versamark around the edges in the remaining white areas and heat embossed with "Caeser’s Gold”: Time for final assembly. I attached the card front to a pre-folded black card; arranged the flowers, bow, coil and frame along with a tangle of Kreinik gold braid; and added some Idea-ology stickers to complete the card: Products used in the making of this card were:
I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge for April 18, 2018: "Sparkle & Shine" The Lindy's color inspiration challenge for March 2018 is the following photo and color palatte: I took the color palette to heart when I created a background based on the photograph. I started with a "sky" of Flat Fabio Spray “C’est la vie Cerise” on watercolor paper. I then added Shaker Magicals “Guten Tag Teal”, “Alpine Ice Rose” and "Yodeling Yellow”, followed by a misting of water to create an out-of-focus floral background. Finally, the greenery was another Flat Fabio Spray “Luscious Lime”: I trimmed a piece of this "background" to fit a kraft card base: My final step was to create a floral spray to overlay this background. I stamped five blooms from the Stampers Anonymous "Flower Garden Set" in Archival "Jet Black" on Neena Solar White card. I die cut them with the coordinating Sizzix die set and water colored them using a water brush and Flat Fabio Sprays “Luscious Lime”, “Luminous Lemon”, “Chateau Rose”, “Raspberry Lemonade”, and “Blazing Black”. After dry fitting the blooms to the card base, I stamped a sentiment in "Jet black" Archival and the attached stems and blooms using Simon Says Stamp Craft Tacky Glue: Products used in the making of this card were:

The inspiration for the February 2018 challenge at Lindy's is as follows: Making it "sweet" was an additional challenge, but because I wasn't clear on the meaning of sweet in this context, I'm not claiming to have met that criterion. I started with a Graphic 45 black tag, painted it with gesso, then Multi Matte Medium, and then Texture Paste (opaque matte), drying thoroughly between each layer before adding sprays and embossing powder: While all these layers were drying, I also experimented with gesso, spays, and heat embossing on a plastic deli lid... thinking it would make a good circular embellishment... While not entirely successful (there was a reason why the label said to not heat!), I did end up with a "frame" and a very "textured" disc: I attached some ribbons that I had dyed with various Lindy's sprays to the back of the disc and struggled to get the disc to stick to the tag (it took several attempts using three different types of glue, and weighing it down with an acrylic block and a jar of industrial adhesive that had gone solid on me, for a good 24 hours before it was secure!): I attached a strand of "pearls" around the disc. A spray of paper flowers down one side of the disc, some smaller ones scattered on the ribbons, and a chipboard sentiment raised up on foam dots resulted in: You can see the glimmer and shine in the above photo, but you can read the sentiment in the following: Products used in the making of this tag were:
The Lindy's Gang has issued its color palette for the January 2018 challenge: and have suggested that as a little extra assignment, add GLITTER or SEQUINS somewhere on the creation! I started with a chipboard tag (part of a Layering Stencil album kit from Heart of Texas), gessoed it, and added texture using a layering stencil and texture paste. I then sprayed Lindy's Srarburst Sprays "Tainted Love Teal Shimmer Spray" and "Azure Sea Asters Shimmer Spray" and Flat Fabio Spray "I'm Late, I'm Late Slate" and let them drip down over the texture: Once dry, I applied embossing ink to three snowflakes and the right side of the tag and heat embossed with "Silver Moon Mistletoe" and "Desert Moon Copper Teal". The embossing powder colors were altered by the underlying inks, resulting in a darker teal effect with some shine on the three snowflakes and a pale blue shine on the tag edge: My next step was to take an Idea-ology "Ornate Plate", cover it with gesso and then embossing ink and "triple emboss with "Silver Moon Mistletoe", "Morning Glory Azure" and "Midnight Blue Slate" embossing powders: I cut a piece of cardstock to fit behind the plate, added a scrap of snowflake patterned blue scrapbook paper (which had been coated with a watered down layer of white gesso), and glued the card to the plate. A pair of small pale blue brads filled the holes on either side: Once the tag was thoroughly dry, I added some leftover white snowflake die-cuts from a challenge last year and added some frosted crystal gems for sparkle: Time to assemble. I coated a flourish chipboard with gesso and heat embossed it with "Morning Glory Azure" and "Midnight Blue Slate" embossing powders. I attached the ornate plate and the flourish and added some dark blue holographic snowflake sequins to the swirl of texture paste, embossed and paper snowflakes: This tag is part of a pair of tags with a ring for the top, intended for a layering stencil album. I may try to use it for a tag album instead, by creating some pocket pages to hold tags smaller than the intended layering stencils.

I'm also submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for January 8, 2018: Winter Blues The Lindy's December 2017 Challenge used the color palette below: It was suggested that we might consider this to represent either the traditional Christmas colors of red and green or a more modern version of either blue and silver or blue and gold. I opted for blue-and-gold with a little white thrown in. I started with a BIG card because I wanted abig canvas for this color combination. I gessoed the future top-folding card. After the gesso had dried, I added some texture with texture paste and set teh card aside to dry again. The next day, I inked direct-to-paper with my Versamark pad, and heat embossed with “Desert Moon Turquoise” and “Caesar’s Gold”. Once the card had cooled, I dripped Starburst sprays “TiffanyLou Blue” and “Medieval Gold” down the card from the top fold: I stuck with the color scheme, using glitter papers, some metallic braid and a turquoise snowflake-shaped brad to create my embellishments and a sentiment banner: Products used in the making of this card were:

Linda Coughlin, owner of the blog "The Funky Junkie" and the online craft shop of the same name (The Funky Junkie Boutique), has issued a challenge: "Every September I start making a tag a week with a winter/Christmas theme and challenging my visitors to be inspired by something on the tag that will get them going on a winter/Christmas project of their own. I hope you will play along with my little challenge this year. It's a nice way to get your Christmas cards done. "Here's the deal. Each Monday for the next 12 weeks, I will post a Christmas tag. If you wish to play along, you can make any sort of Christmas or winter themed DIY project. It can be a tag, but doesn't have to be. It can be a Christmas card, a holiday decoration, a scrapbook layout, a tree ornament, a banner, whatever you want but it does have to be inspired by my tag and must be Christmas or winter themed." Below is the twelfth and final tag of her 2017 series: This one is red-and-white with lots of ideology ephemera. I think what started me was the red-and-white background and so I started there, using a gessoed tag, Versamark, red-gold embossing powder and a layering stencil (but not the same one used in the inspiration): Now for the embellishments. I had several packets of Idea-ology goodies from this year's Christmas release that I hadn't even opened yet, so this was the time. I used Distress markers to tint a paper doll, attached a quote chip to a strip of glimmery red-gold ribbon, and trimmed out with a couple of ephemera pack die-cuts. A length of green crinkle ribbon finished off this tag: Products used in the making of this tag were:

The November color palette and inspiration photo on the LIndy's Gang blog is: I took the color palette and a card layout I found in the latest issue of Craft Stamper magazine (November 2017, issue 210). Anna-Karin Evaldsdon was exploring “Happy Accidents With Embossing Powder” (pages 44-47) and I was intrigued because I ALWAYS have the "happy accidents" she described. Wouldn't you know it --- I couldn't make one of those accidents happen on this project, even though I used the same stamp! And The colors for this challenge were NOT those in her example... so I decided to CASE her layout instead... I started with a stencil and Lindy’s Gang Starburst Sprays “Grab a Guy Gold” and “Green With Envy Green” on a pre-folded white card base: Next, I stamped a circle image in Versamark and triple embossed it with Tidy's embossing powders “Urban Amethyst”, “Tannenbaum Green Gold”, and “Midnight Sapphire” and oversprayed it with Lundy's Flat Fabio “Tweedle Dee Denim”. I punched five 2" circles and embossed each with a different color of embossing powder (“Urban Amethyst”, “Byzantine Bronze”, ““Tannenbaum Green Gold”, “King Midas Gold” and ““Midnight Sapphire”), going for the accidental look (it worked on some, not on others). I arranged these circles and the denim one on the card front: Now it was time to embellish. I added a strip of tatted lace: Sprayed some fabric flowers with “Grab a Guy Gold” and arranged them and a tangle of quilting thread around an ideology paper doll and three quote chips and then trimmed the card: Products used in the main of this card:
The October 2017 color challenge at the Lindy's Gang blog used the following color palette: While I had this month's special set of inks and powders, I decided to try a technique I read about in the recent CardMaker magazine (Winter 2017, Vol. 13, No. 4) in an article called “Cheers to the New Year” (pp 58-61) and which included a card which used tissue paper as a background (“Celebrate!” by Karen Hasheck on p 61.). This meant I needed some powdered pigment crystals. I decided to use my shaker set which had colors similar to the palette, if not the exact same as in the special set. I dug our my white tissue paper and tore a section out, sprinkled three colors on it and spritzed heavily with water: This is on my craft sheet and, as you can see, quite wet! The article said give it at least three hours to dry so I transferred it to a double layer of paper toweling and let it sit over night: I ran a cut of gloss white card through my Xyron 500 so that the matte side would acquire adhesive. I crippled the tissue several times (well, four times), smoothed it out, peeled off the backing paper and smoothed the tissue over the card... Then I swiped a Versamark pad lightly over the wrinkles, added two colors of embossing powder and heat-embossed: I trimmed the card to fit a refolded card front: Now to complete the card. I added two shades of embossing powder to a heavy swirl from Creative Embellishments, cut the swirl in half and glued it to the card. I stamped three flowers from a Laurel Burch stamped set, watercolored with Starburst sprays, die cut them and popped them onto the branches with foam dots: I was thinking "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" so I searched for a sentiment that expressed that idea, and found it in some Idea-ology clippings stickers: A few splatters with "Sidewalk Chalk" Flat Fabio and my card was complete: Products used in the making of this card were:
I'm also entering this in the Frilly & Funky Challenge for October 12, 2017: 'Tis Near Halloween because it is sort of Halloweeny and it does include two of the required colors: orange and black. The September 2017 Color Inspiration Challenge for Lindy's Stamp Game is shown in the following photo: I started by using a stencil "mono print" approach similar to that shown by Di Garlig: I sprayed two of my layerings pencils, chosen at random, with two of the sprays ("Orange Creamsicle" and "Cathedral Pines Green") in this month's special collection. and pressed the inked stencils to the front of a gloss white card: I mopped up the surplus Flat Fabio "Orange Creamsicle" ink with two white tags, stamped a texture plate and embossed with "Guten Tag Teal" and "Tannenbaum Green Gold" embossing powders, and over-stamped with a large background stamp: I stamped a chipboard leaf and a left-over bit of "trellis" with Versamark and heat embossed with "Tannenbaum Green Gold" and "Caesar's Gold" embossing powders, respectively: I applied texture paste to the card face and, after it dried, sprayed with Flat Fabio "Bratwurst Brown" and "Orange Creamsicle" inks and then splattered Moonshadow "Golden Doubloons" and ""Cathedral Pines Green" inks with a paintbrush: Time for assembly. I ran the title piece through my Xyron 250 sticker maker and applied it to the right side of the card: I attached the tag, assorted Prima paper flowers in coordinating colors of pink, green and boon, and the embossed foliage piece: I applied two "Clippings" stickers to the card front, and added some shadow to the pink flowers, a drop-shadow to the clippings and an edge to the tag with an Inktense pencil in "Madder Brown" for the final card: Products used in the creation of this card were:
