A Blog Named Hero has monthly challenges and the challenge for October, 2019 is to "...see nature in ... projects. Wildlife, foliage, florals, and everything in between." I started with a 6 x 11 sheet of mirror gold foil cardstock and die cut each end. I scored behind each cut and folded theft sides inward to form a trifold card. On the inside (non-foiled) side of the card I stamped a scene in black, using four stamps from a set that accompanied the die: I colored the scene using Zig Clean Color markers: Products used in the making of this card were:
My final card in the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge took advantage of a card making "kit" I had purchased some time ago (I was searching, unsuccessfully, for some Christmas-themed paper when I came across it in the back of my cupboard!). I liked the papers and gold-green-and-red colors in the kit but wanted to use a stamped image instead of the stickers and die cuts provided. I pulled another Hero Arts Christmas stamp (this one a "dashing reindeer"), stamped it in Versamark on a scrap of coordinating dark red card and heat embossed "Enchanted Gold" sparkly embossing powder. (I now have glitter everywhere as it was blown off the card while embossing!). The strip I was going to use needed a border, however, so I used a 'jumbo stripe" stamp (using my Fiskars stamp press - the stripe stamp is too long for any of my acrylic block collection) with more Versamark and more "Enchanted Gold". While I didn't get complete coverage with the stripe, it did set the edges off nicely on the red card. I layered the embossed strip on a card base form the kit and added a sentiment sticker to complete the card: Products used in the making of this card were:
The Hero Arts Holiday Challenge continues! I have been inspired to make Christmas cards by this, more than any other challenge, since I have found several approaches that lend themselves to making multiples of a card easily and quickly! At the same time that I was making the card in post one about this challenge, I found a second set of "watercolor" stamps from Hero Arts that I wanted to try out. Now that I had my stamp positioner technique down (it took a while to remember as I have not used it since I got my MISTI!), I used Archival Ink on the outline and Distress Markers on the solid to get a second note card: I had issues with my sentiment stamp, however, and had to make some corrections with a sigma fine black marking pen. There was one place not eh stamp that simple did not stamp, no matter how many times I reinked.

I was on a roll and decided to try yet another stamp and another card for the Holiday Challenge. This one was another "solid" stamp with no detail, and the card is a result of a mistake. I stamped an angel-with-horn stamp with Versamark and heat embossed it with what I THOUGHT was white embossing powder, but I was wrong, it was clear! This resulted in an image like a watermark on my scrap of blue card. Still, I rather liked the look so, instead of dumping this, I went with it and added a sentiment, this time using the right white embossing powder! I used silver mirror card to back the image and mounted it on a pre-folded white note card. This was a quick make and could easily be used to make multiples.

Having been playing around with resist techniques for a Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge, I thought I'd try a resist approach using a different background (the SSSW version used water color paper) and a Hero Arts stamp. I took a piece of patterned paper from Authentique, stamped the image with Versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then, Using a blending tool, I covered the paper with Distress Ink using a blending tool. The embossed image resisted the ink, allowing the pattern on the paper to show through. A sentiment stamped in versa mark adn heat embossed with silver completed the panel, which was then layered on a prefolded white note card. I'm entering this in the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: "Totally Resistable"

Hero Arts is sponsoring a holiday challenge through November 15, 2016. The requirement is that at least one Hero Arts stamp, die, stencil or digital image be used on each submittal. I started searching through my stamps and found a few Hero Arts Christmas-themed stamps which I decided to play with. The first was a pair of stamps: a holly outline and a holly solid. Using my stamp positioner (because these are wood-mounted stamps and my MISTI won't work with them --- sad face), I stamped the outline in Archival and the solid in Distress Marker ink. I added a sentiment in Archival and layered the image on a scrap of red card (to bring out the color of the berries): Products used in the making of this card were:
Hero Arts has issued a challenge for the month of February called Fabulous Flowers. The project is to represent dreams of spring, featuring at least one flower and at least one Hero Arts product. Hey, I thought, "I can do that!" I have LOTS of Hero Arts floral stamps from way back! So I dug through my stash and located several candidates, selected two and went with it. Now i know that this doesn't LOOK like flowers, but the stamp set is called "Rainbow Blossoms" (LL 840) and the three stamps I used were "Field Flower Blossom" (E2756), "Wildflower Blossom" (E2757) and "Poppy Blossom" (E 2754). They are wood-mounted stamps and, for all I know, retired, but they are flowers and I like their look. So... I inked each stamp using Distress Markers and misting them with water to make a water-color look. I stamped the three stamps on a strip of white card stock, scribbled an outline on each stamp using a Pigma Micron pen in Archival black, layered the strip on mustard colored card, and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment ("Special Things You Do", F 2459) of a similar vintage. So my entry in the Fabulous Flowers Challenge: Products used in making this card were:
