The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog Challenge for September 16, 2020 was to "Stay in the Background" "...create your own background and use it in a shabby chic or vintage project - no pre-printed patterned paper this time. You can create the background in any number of ways and it can be simple or intricate. Using embossing folders, stencils, dies, stamps, washi tape, paints, inks or a gel press are just a few ideas. ...give a brief description of how you created your background in your post." I created my background using a stencil, blue painters' tape as a mask, and four shades of blue ink: To complete the card, I used a silhouette stamp, heat embossed in white, and a sentiment in the darkest shade of the ink used: Products used in the making of this card were:

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, September 14, 2020, was to "Frame It"! I started by creating a layered frame with a painted (Distress Paint, "Bundled Sage" directly on the chipboard) square chipboard piece and a pieced together diamond frame made from die-cut glitter paper, and mounted it on a panel which I had blended with Distress Oxide (also Bundled Sage) and tased with sprays of water: I framed an Idea-ology "Photoshop" portrait with an Idea-ology "Foundry Frame", and added that to the card base. I adhered the card base to a kraft A2 card. I "stitched" around the panel with a gel pen, and added an Idea-ology "Small Talk" stitcher and an Idea-ology "Field Notes" butterfly to complete my card: I chose the sentiment because the photo reminded me of one of my Mother when she married my Father...

Since this is entirely what I call a "composition" piece and no stamps were used, I also entered this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, September 16, 2020, "No Stamps Allowed". The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, September 7, 2020 is "Use Your Favorite Stamp"! Now, for me, that is a difficult challenge because I can't really say that I have a single "favorite" stamp. I have had favorite (obsessive, must have them all!) stamp categories over the years: lighthouses, snowflakes, Chinese images, etc. etc. etc. And favorite brands as well. But a single stamp that stands out as favorite? Not really. I have a HUGE and diverse collection and I tend to use the stamp that fits both my mood at the time and the kind of project I am working on. So... I decided to toss a coin and go with a representative of both a brand and category I like, and I chose Stampers Anonymous and cats! Specifically "Crazy Cats" and "Snarky Cats"! I started by creating a base for my card, using Idea-ology worn wallpaper and substrate sheets on an A2 kraft card: I sketched in floorboards using a black pen. Next, I stamped a "Snarky Cat " (in Vesamark, embossed in dark chocolate) and a "Crazy Cat" milk bottle (in black ink) on a scrap of Neena Solar White 110 lb cardstock. I colored both images using Inktense pencils, a water brush and a Tombow blending pen. I fussy cut the stamped images plus a "puddle" from the scrap and adhered them to the scene: Next, I stamped a "Snarky Cat" sentiment (in black on the remains of the scrap of white card), fussy cut it, and adhered it to the card face: I have seen similar expressions on my cats' faces when caught in an "accident" (a glass vase crashing from a mantle top in the wee small hours of the morning comes to mind...) and it is true that our cats are seldom supervised!

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for August 31, 2020 was "Oodles of Doodles". I decided to use a set of "Marking" stamps for my sides on a card featuring a bird in flight. I started by in blending Distress Oxide inks on Neena Solar white heavy card. I then stamped the bird and sentiment in Archival Jet Black and the doodles in Archival "Watering Can". I used a water brush to soften the color inside the bird image and then coated the image liberally with wink of Stella (which doesn't really show up in the photo) before trimming, matting and attaching to the card base: Products used in the making of this card were:
