My June Progress in my 2018 Organization Resolution

7/1/2018

Back at the end of December, 2017, I blogged about the mess my craft space was in, and how I hoped that, in 2018, I would make some progress in getting it all put back together and neatened up. I posted my January progress here. My February progress report on that organization is here. My March organization efforts can be found here. My April report is here. And my May report is here.

I am sadly coming to the conclusion that my craft space will NEVER be the neat, clean (uncluttered) and spacious place that I see posted online by others. But I am getting closer to knowing what I have and where it is and that is a good thing.

In June, there was a road trip that took up the first two weeks of the month, and a freezer and refrigerator needed to be cleaned and re-organized (because the latter was dying and a new fridge/freezer was arriving the week we returned from the road trip), so it took me a while to get back in organizing mode.…

My first project was on June 2, 2018, when I input all of the Lindy's, Smooch, and Tattered Angels spray inks in "Numbers", an Apple software program that is similar to Word's Excel spreadsheet. These pages are stored on my iPad and, theoretically, I can now consult these rather than sort through cases of unlabeled inks. For the Lindy's inks, I also copied their web page listings of colors and include them in the cases where the specific inks were stored (the latter in alphabetical order rather than color, which May or MAY NOT be the final solution. Visible labels may well be the next step...). There is also a folder for Distress but it isn't complete,.. I had previously input all my Tim Holtz products in a mobile app which, after numerous iOS upgrades, seems to have lost all the data so I need to go back and work on Distress, Dylusions, and other Ranger products as well as other brands (Hero Arts, ColorBox, Brilliance, GinaK, etc.

On June 3, 2018, I moved all my "Smooch Sprays" from rolling loose in an Ikea drawer into a single ArtBin container. They are arranged,  more or less, by color family:

On June 17, 2018, after returning from South Carolina and waiting for that refrigerator to arrive, I sorted all my 6x6 patterned paper pads, putting all my Authentique pads and all my miscellaneous brand pads into some Totally Tiffany 6x6 paper handlers.

I have more on order because there are some zip-lock bags which hold the pads that didn't fit here.

I have also ordered some 8x8 paper handlers for yet more paper pads as well as some more 12 x 12 storage boxes like those I used here in February to store my 12 x 12 paper pads from Graphic45 Collections and Tim Holtz. If I get all of that done, the irregular stacks of odd-sized patterned papers will no longe block my 8.5 x 11 solid card stock and I can almost claim to have tamed my paper stash! Almost --- there are tags, envelopes, car/envelope pairings and the like scattered about in various cabinets...

I can stay, however, that I am getting better at putting things away after use and, even (GASP!) upon arrival in the craft space fro various UPS, USPS and FedEx deliveries! AT least that means I'm not backsliding - YET!

Born in New Jersey, I grew up in Southeastern Ohio. Attended university at Bowling Green State University (B.Sci  in biological science, 1964), University of Southern California (M. Sci in biological science, 1967) and University of Florida (Ph. D in zoology, 1971).
Worked in environmental consulting for a little more than a decade and then seven years as an instructor in biological science at various community colleges in California and Texas. Moved to London in 1992, then Beijing (1996) and Saudi Arabia (1998), before returning to NW Ohio in 2002. I am currently living in NW Ohio with my husband and three Bombay cats.  I love to read (mystery, science fiction, history) and stitch (have done crewel, currently experimenting with free embroidery and needlepoint but blackwork and cross stitch are my main genres); have been known to knit; and now I'm heavily into papercrafting!
Retired upon the return to the US so lots of time for our hobbies...
