I have a few fair stampss, and angel or two, and some bats in my stash. There may even be a winged Chinese dragon! But I have more butterflies and dragonflies and other insets than anything (a whole five drawers worth), to say nothing of Tim Holtz's numerous butterfly, dragonfly, and bee images inf ramelets and BIGZ dies! And I use many of them infrequently, if at all, so it was time to drag our a few and make a fairly simple collage card front.
Not a lot of technique in this card --- it's just stamp, color, cut and layer... I wasn't really stretching with this one as it's right up my style alley, so to speak.
The Butterfly is from the Sizzix framelits & stamp set "Limitations" (660189). I stamped in Archival "jet Black", die cut, and then colored with Intense Pencils ( "Sun Yellow" 0200, "Tangerine" 103; "Poppy Red" 0100; and "Cherry" 0510) and a Tombow Blending pen. After the butterfly was dry, i took my craft knife and cut off the b=white border left by the die.
The dragonfly is part of a Stamps Happen stamp( "Dragonflies" 90246), again stamped with Archival "Jet Black" and colored with Intense Pencils ("Apple Green" 114; "Leaf Green" 1600; "Teal Grean" 1300; "Sea Blue " 1200; and "Deep Indigo" 1100) and blended with the Tombow blending pen. I fussy cut this image from the overall image using a craft knife.
Time to layer! I used Viva Las Vegas "Miracle Tape to place the two labels on a pre-folded ivory card form The Paper Studio. I used Ranger Collage Glue Stick to attach the dragonfly and the body of the butterfly. I edged in a drop shadow on the dragonfly wings and body and the butterfly body with an "Old Paper" Distress Marker and drew in the butterfly antenna and the dragonfly legs with a Pigma Micron 05 black pen. . Finally, I added some remnant rubs from the Idea-ology set "Botanical" (TH93119)
