"Whenever a new year begins, many of us attempt to start afresh and tackle things we didn’t do in the year past. So we are challenging you to try something NEW this month!
- Perhaps there’s a technique you have been putting off trying?
- What about trying a new color combination?
- Or maybe you have a new-to-you product that you’ve not yet played with; Simon says it’s time to break out those products and start WORKING them!
while the design team on Simon Says Stamp Wednesday says:
"If Santa brought you some new crafty goodies, we would love to see them! You could also make something for a New Baby, New Job, New Home, New Life Adventures etc."
Now I have a couple of techniques I would like to try, including gel printing and acrylic pour, and I have the material for both. But at this time of year I'm not up to the mess both entail (after all, there's taxes to start on and a Christmas tree to take down, just for the next few weeks...). So I thought I'd try out some new product I received during the month of December (All Christmas gifts from me to me!)!
I started with a stencil from a company new to me, Kindred Stamps! I sponged Versamark through it onto a card front and then applied another product new to me, Ranger Mixed Media Powder, and heated it to create a rainbow effect. I used a 'tover die cut word and shadow which coordinated with one of the powder colors and applied them to a white card edged with Distress Markers in similar colors. I added another new product, some holographic flat-back gems from Ink Road, to finish the card.
