Challenge: “Stitch in Time - with a twist!”

8/12/2015

The Frilly and Funkie Challenge for August 12, 2015 asks us to use stitching somewhere on our vintage or shabby chic projects (real or faux will do) and also a timepiece too!

I was thinking, “A Stitch in Time Saves Nine” but I didn’t have exactly the right stamps, papers or stencils to say this so I improvised!

First, I blended “Vintage Photo” Distress Ink onto ivory card stock through Tim Holtz’  “Clockwork” stencil (THS 013).

The I stamped the “Roman Clock” (Deep Red 3x404237) and a sentiment from the Indigo Blu “Enjoy Life” stamp set (EJ1) in Archival “Jet Black” ink.

Finally, I trimmed a piece of beige card for a card front and stamped a stitch/cut line from the Indigo Blu stamp set “In Stitches” (IS):

I then assembled the various pieces using machine stitching in white thread (too lazy to change the thread on my machine), foam dots (under the clock and the sentiment) and a charm as a clock pendulum (a spool of silk cord from the Vintage Sewing Charms” freebies form Cardmaking magazine):

Love all the clocks and especially love the charm as the pendulum. Thanks for joining us at Frilly and Funkie.
Hugs!
Cec

Carol I love it!!! You've made fantastic use of the stencil background and all those IndigoBlu stamps (so glad you're a fan!) to bring together a wonderfully designed card and the stitching and little charm really bring it all together perfectly. Thank you for joining us at Frilly and Funkie. Jenny x

I am currently living in NW Ohio with my husband and three Bombay cats.  I love to read (mystery, science fiction, history) and stitch (have done crewel, currently experimenting with free embroidery and needlepoint but blackwork and cross stitch are my main genres); have been known to knit; and now I'm heavily into papercrafting!
Retired upon the return to the US so lots of time for our hobbies...
