I decided to use a new technique I learned from watching a tutorial on New Years' Day on Craftsy. It was in a class by Shari Carroll called "Lovely Layered Cards, from top to bottom". The technique was called "clean and simple collage background" in Lesson Two, "Collaged Backgrounds".
To further reinforce the "new" aspect of this card, I used a new pad of paper from Prima ("San Tropez") and two new dies from Waffle Flower ("Nested Domes" and "Celebrate Word") and used a new (to me) paper cutter by Carl (it's been in my stash for a long time but never used until today!).
I followed Shari's instructions to the letter in creating my background:
I cut the arched shape, edged it with a gold marker and mounted it using foam dots. I cut and folded the dimensional star and attached it to the arch with short lengths of double-sided tape. I die-cut the word and glued it to the arch to finish the card:
- Dies: Waffle Flower "Celebrate word" (310060) and "A2 Nested Domes" (310172); Sizzix Thinlits "Dimensional Stars" (661595)
- Stampers Anonymous Layering Stencil "Starry" (THS093)
- Iks: Marvy Uchida "Liquid Gold" marker
- Papers: The White Stock Value Pack notecards "white"; Neena Solar White 110 lb card; Prima "San Tropez" 8x8 paper pad (9927366); scrap of gold metallic card
- Media: Ranger Texture Paste Opaque White (INK44444)
- Adhesives: Ranger Collage Glue Stick; RedLine 1/8" Embossing Tape; Aleene's Tacky Glue pen; EK Tools 3D Foam Dots
- Tools: Carl 12"/A4 trimmer (DC100)
