12 Tags of 2016 - May

The Tim Holtz 12 Tags series for 2016 continues with a May tag which is a “remix” of two previous tafs/techniques, the Tissue Tape resist from August 2014  and the Tiny Tattered Flowers from May 2015 

I decided to stick with a color combination I have been using a lot of late (“Abandoned Coral”, “Twisted Citron” and “Fossilized Amber”) and my smaller tag format, which meant I would have to forego a lot of the embellishments that are typical of “Tim Tags”.  Still, I found a way to incorporate both techniques in my smaller tag…

My first step was to create a tag background using the step-by-step tutorial in the August 2014 tag, omitting the texture paste through a layering stencil (a - because there wasn’t “room” on my smaller tag and b - because my mini-stencils are on order…) and this is what I came up with:

Next, I pulled out my Tiny Tattered Floral dies and some scrap card stock in my chosen color scheme:

and made tiny daisies and one little bitty rosebud (I spayed them with “Antiqued Bronze” Distress Spray (and later touched them up a little with a “Picket Fence” Distress Marker which you will see in the final tag) as well as some leaves (I scored them with the quilling tool, distressed them with “Old Paper” and “Vintage Photo” Distress Inks, and added Veins with a “Forest Moss” Distress Marker).

Next, I colored some Venetian Lace with “Fossilized Amber” and “Twisted Citron” Distress Spray Stains and water:

And attached it to my background along with an Industrious Sticker “Frame” (distressed with “Tarnished Brass”, “Antiqued Bramnze” and “Hickory Smoke” Distress Painton and an Imaginisce silver medallion (similarly distressed):

Now it was time to attach my Tiny Tattered flowers and leaves:

note the Picket Fence touches on the diary petals...

and add a “Crinkle Ribbon” tie (also dyed with “Fossilized Amber” and “Twisted Citron” Distress Spray Stains):
