"Green Grow the Lilacs", which apparently was the original title of the play that led to Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "Oklahoma!", was never actually in the musical but was a popular folk song of Irish origin, which fits the concept of green and March and St. Patrick's Day quite well. However, I chose this as my theme because the name just came to mind when I was casting about for something "green"!
My approach was to stamp the lilacs (PSX K-1299) twice, once on typing paper and once of cardstock. I then cut out the typing paper version to use as a mask. I attached the mask to the card over the stamped image and sprayed with Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio. I blotted it dry and the heat dried it, before removing the mask.
My next step was to watercolor in the lilacs with a Shaded Lilac marker (appropriate, don't you think?) and then added some depth with Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord. I used Pine Needles, Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio to color the stems and leaves.
